We have another 2-part podcast today.
Part 1 is the noted Canadian economist, Don Drummond. Mr. Drummond spent almost 23 years in progressively more senior positions in the federal Department, culminating in Associate Deputy Minister of Finance. Paul Martin called him “one of the most principled and imaginative public servants with whom I have ever worked.” Subsequent to his time in government, he was Chief Economist for the TD Bank. And is now Adjunct Professor at the School of Policy Studies at Queen’s University. Mr. Drummond is well outside the consensus on pandemic stimulus spending and we’re going to talk about all of that today.
Part 2 of the pod is our ever-lovin’ Political Panel with Jenni Byrne and Scott Reid. We’ll pick up on my conversation with Mr. Drummond. We’ll get into the goings on at both the Liberal and NDP conventions. We’ll talk about the upcoming budget. And we’ll talk about if the worm finally turning on incumbent Premiers during Covid. Finally, we’ll each throw out our “HEY YOUs!” for the week.
