What better way to kick off the holiday pod season than to sit down with former Chief Correspondent of CBC news, anchor of The National for over 30 years and legitimate Canadian icon, Peter Mansbridge.
What can I tell you about Peter that you don’t already know?
Well, for one, he’s got his own podcast called “The Bridge”, exploring trends in politics in journalism, but you probably know that.
There’s a story that Peter was “discovered” as a voice, making flight announcements out of a local airport in Churchill Manitoba. But, you probably know that too.
Here’s one you don’t know: in 2008, after the 2006 federal election, Peter Mansbridge picked me picked me off of the junk heap of political campaigns and put me on CBC's The National for ten years to analyze Canadian politics.
We’re going to talk to Peter today about a bunch of things, including his favourite players who played the game of politics, his latest book called "Extraordinary Canadians", and we're going to talk about the state of the media today.
